What is act:s to End Malaria?

act:s to End Malaria is part of World Vision ACT:S, which is a network of young people committed to creating a modern-day Book of Acts through our exploration of faith and justice, creative activism to bring issues to life and change hearts, and using our voices to advocate on malaria, hunger, AIDS and child slavery. They are asking people to find their own unique way to help end malaria by the year 2015.

What are these t-shirts for?

I have decided to use my own creativity to help end malaria by the year 2015. So I have chosen to take gently used t-shirts and spray paint the logo End Malaria - 2015 on them and sell them. The reason is that when you buy a t-shirt you join me in the fight to end malaria. You do this in two different ways. The first is that the cost of the shirt will actually purchase one mosquito bed net which will save lives. The second is that by wearing the shirt you will help spread the word about what I am doing and maybe others will join us in trying to end malaria.

This disease is completely preventable and treatable, yet it kills approximately 2,000 children around the world every day. Malaria is one of the leading causes of child deaths in the world. Today 3 billion people worldwide are still threatened by the disease.

Before 1946 this was a huge issue for Americans. Then the U.S. created the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. They were put in charge of eliminating malaria. It took just 5 years for them to accomplish their goal.

We know how to prevent it. We just need to step up and do it. $6 dollars of every shirt that I sell goes to purchase one treated bed net that will save at least 2 lives. These bed nets cost about the same price as combo meals at fast food restaurants or even large coffee drinks at coffee houses. We can help end this disease by simply changing one purchase from our daily lives. Will you join me?

How do I order a t-shirt?

If you have found a t-shirt you would like to buy just e-mail me at savedfromwaste@yahoo.com and give me the item code (ex. Guys #0004). You will also need to include your address. We can then work out how I can get you your shirt. I would like to avoid mailing any shirts because I do not want to charge people for shipping and I can not take on that cost myself. If you would like yours shipped than just let me know and I can give you a quote on shipping costs.

Custom orders

-I can also do custom orders if you would like something in particular. I am trying to find shirts in a variety of sizes and colors. But you may email me and tell me exactly what you're looking for and I'll do my best to find it for you.

What is covered by the cost?

Each t-shirt will be at least $6. This will purchase one mosquito net which will help save lives. Any additional cost will cover the purchasing price of the shirt itself. I will not be making any money from the sales of these shirts. Included in your cost will be a sticker and some information about act:s to End Malaria.

Tell me about the t-shirts

I chose to purchase gently used t-shirts so as to be environmentally friendly. There are guys and girls shirts available. Each shirt will have the End Malaria - 2015 logo on it somewhere. You can view each shirt by clicking on the image of your choice. You will be taken to my flickr album where you can see the picture better as well as read more about the shirt. Since they are purchased from thrift stores they will be different brands, sizes and looks. The flickr photo will have a description of the shirt as well as the cost for that particular shirt.
